Accordingly, the title is not merely a decorative or extra textual element that can be omitted; rather, it is an integral part of the narrative structure that, like a central signifier, organizes other narrative elements around itself. The importance and necessity of researching narrative titles become evident when the title is removed from the story. This leads to reader confusion and even an incomplete understanding of the narrative. With this premise, this article seeks to examine the semiotic and discursive capacities of the title in the book <em>Those Twenty-Three</em>, one of the most famous narratives of resistance literature, using a descriptive-analytical method influenced by Barthes' textual analysis in <em>S/Z</em>. The research findings indicate that the title, as a sign, plays a special role in shaping the hermeneutic and action codes of the text. The entire narrative is, in fact, an expansion of the implicit connotations of the title through the deferral of meaning and the creation of new actions within the text. The author has attempted to construct actions and enigmas through contrasts such as youth/maturity and captivity/freedom, ultimately revealing the full meaning of the title.</span>   ساختار واژگانی، معنایی و گفتمانی عنوان یک داستان، در مقام نخستین آستانه‌ای که خواننده با آن مواجه می‌شود، نقش موثری در خوانش، کدگذاری و کشف دلالتهای گفتمانی و رمزگانی داستان دارد. بر این اساس، عنوان، عنصری تزیینی و برون‌متنی نیست که قابل حذف باشد؛ بلکه بخشی از ساختار روایت است که همچون دال مرکزی، دیگر عناصر روایت را حول و حوش خودش سامان می‌دهد. اهمیت و ضرورت پژوهش درباره نام روایت زمانی مشخص می‌شود که عنوان از داستان حذف شود. این امر باعث سردرگمی مخاطب و حتی فهم ناتمام روایت می‌شود. با این پیش‌فرض، در این مقاله تلاش شده تا با روشی توصیفی - تحلیلی و رویکردی متاثر از تحلیل متنی بارت در کتاب اس/ زد ، ظرفیت‌های رمزگانی و گفتمانی عنوان روایت در کتاب آن بیست و سه نفر که یکی از معروفترین روایت‌های ادبیات پایداری است بررسی شود. نتایج تحقیق نشان می‌دهد که عنوان در مقام یک نشانه، نقشی ویژه در شکل‌گیری رمزگان‌های معمایی و کنشی این متن دارد. تمامی متن داستان، در حقیقت بسط دلالت‌های ضمنی عنوان از طریق تعویق معنا و ایجاد کنش‌های جدید در سطح متن است. نویسنده تلاش کرده از طریق تقابلهای نوجوانی/ بزرگی و اسارت/ آزادی، کنش‌ها و معماهایی را در سطح متن تشکیل دهد تا در نهایت معنای کامل عنوان افشا گردد https://www.narratologyjournal.ir/article_196342_78689b2c2a4193391b841ca15a71b703.pdf
