Abstract
The plot element is one of the most important story elements that creates an organic relationship between different parts of the story. Classic works of fiction have a Master Plots, but modern and post-modern literature stories mostly have thin, incoherent, and minimalistic, so-called subplots. In this article, the novel Al-Waba by the prominent Syrian writer Hani Al-Raheb is discussed from the point of view of Pirang's fictional element. According to Pirangi's point of view, its author has followed the classical story-writing tradition or has pursued a modern and postmodern approach. Does it tend to be subplots or anti- plot? This research is done with a descriptive analytical method. The purpose of this article is to determine whether Hani al-Raheb in the novel Al-Waba is traditional or modern and postmodern. The necessity of the research is that despite the many functions and the influence of the plot element in the structure of Al-Waba's novel, its investigation has been neglected in the mentioned novel. The results of the research indicate that avoiding conventional plotting, descending plotting, multiple heroes, open ending, and non-linear narrative are some of the characteristics of plotting in Al-Waba's novel, which indicates that the novel, from the point of view of plotting, has a non-classical pattern and It is modern, which ultimately fits more with the subplots.
