Archetypal Criticism of the Battered Women Syndrome in "A woman who lost her husband" of Sadegh Hedayat

Abstract
The Battered Women Syndrome is one of the psychological syndromes that studies the condition of women who are continuously abused by their intimate partners. This syndrome has a Ouroboric pattern that, in addition to the objective life of beating women, is also found in some literary narratives, and can be traced back to ancient literary myths and traditions, like many other psychology concepts. Because of the frequent pattern of this syndrome and its relationship with the innocent, orphaned and victims network, it can also be considered an archetypal situation. In this article, after the scrutiny the archetype of the battered wife syndrome, the short story "a woman who lost her husband" has been analyzed based on it. The method of writing the findings of this article is descriptive-analytical and its research method is a close reading of the archetype based on a combination of the approaches of Carol Pearson, Lenore Walker and Stephen Karpman. The elements of the syndrome are consistent with the mentioned story, and innocently optimism, helplessness cycle, learned helplessness, power and control wheel are its components in the story of "a woman who lost her husband".
