Abstract
Dreams are included in the category of narratives due to the important element of "time" and the types of anachronism, and examining their function in these texts is considered a way to enter the minds of characters and interpret literary texts. The aim of the present study is to examine the development of Zari's character in the novel Suvashun and to explore the function of the element of "anachronism" in the narrative of the story by examining dreams from the perspective of Jung's theory of the archetype "rebirth". The descriptive-analytical method has also been used in these analyses. To achieve this purpose, the novel Suvashun was selected due to its diverse narrative techniques, and among them, Zari's dreams were examined. The findings showed that dreams interpreted as Joseph's death have a prophetic function, but from the fifth to the seventh dream - after Joseph's death - the dreams acquire a compensatory function and guide the dreamers in returning to themselves as a result of internal transformation
